Experts
at a roundtable today underscored the need for expanding mobile banking to
ensure sustainable financial services.
They
made the observation at the roundtable on compliance of the financial services
industry, organised by Bangladesh Unnayan Parishad at the Centre on Integrated
Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) auditorium in the city.
Planning
Minister MA Mannan attended the roundtable as the chief guest while Chairman of
Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman presided over it.
In
his speech, Mannan said the number of Mobile Financial Service (MFS)
accounts are now around 10 crore and 47 percent of the account holders are
women.
He
urged the authorities concerned to ensure strict surveillance as the involvement
of people in this sector are increasing.
