Students have lifted the blockade with a 48-hour ultimatum demanding justice for the death of Notre Dame College student Naim Hasan who died after the DSCC garbage-carrying truck hit him at Gulistan.

Naim's family has demanded 10 points in addition to appropriate compensation. They have given a 48-hour ultimatum to the government to accept these demands. Otherwise, they have warned to take to the streets again from next Sunday.

The students of Notre Dame College, who were protesting at Gulistan Zero Point in the capital on Thursday (November 25), gave the ultimatum.

They say that if the demand is not met within 48 hours, they will start a tougher movement on Sunday.

Earlier, at around 11 am, agitated students took out a procession in front of Notre Dame College. The procession went to Shapla Chattar and stayed for a while. Later, the students left for Gulistan.

During this time they were seen chanting various slogans including 'my brother is in the grave, why is the murderer out', 'We want justice'.

The demands of the students are:

1. Proper investigation and maximum punishment for Naeem's 'killers'.

2. Bus service for students only on different routes in the district town.

3. Provide fines to students for horn and overspeed in front of school-college and transfer rights to administration.

4. Half pass confirmation for all students.

5. Construction of multiple speed breakers in front of each educational institution.

6. Repair and proper use of every obsolete traffic light in the city.

7. Proper enforcement of traffic laws.

8. Ensuring full use of zebra crossings.

9. Bringing every bus under the law if passengers are picked up and dropped off in a moving bus.

10. Proper implementation of the Safe Roads Act.

A student at Notre Dame protesting at Zero Point in Gulistan said that outside these demands, the family of the deceased Naim should be properly compensated. No one can drive on the road without an adult licensee. We also got a few drivers yesterday, who are much younger in age. We want proper enforcement of the law. Above all we want safe roads.
