Two Bus Staff Remanded over Death of SSC Examinee in Rampura

A court here today placed supervisor Golam Rabbi and helper Chan Miah of Anabil Paribahan, bus that ran over SSC examinee Mainuddin Islam Durjoy in the capital's Rampura area on November 29, in a case filed over the student's death.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jasim passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on seven-day remand each in the case lodged under road transport act.

According to the case documents, the speeding bus (number: Dhaka Metro Ba-15-0856) of Anabil Paribahan hit and ran over Durjoy at East Rampura area as he was trying to cross the road on the night of November 29. Durjoy died on the spot.

All the three bus staff, driver, helper and supervisor were arrested by the police with the help of onlookers. Of these, driver Md Sohel is undergoing treatment in police custody at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Durjoy's mother filed the case with Rampur Police Station.
