A man and his son were killed after a BRTC bus hit them in Godagari Upazila of Rajshahi. The accident took place in the Bijaynagar Basalitala area of ​​the Upazila around 9:30 am on Thursday (December 2).

The deceased were identified as Saju Mia, 31, and his son Abdullah Al Alif, 8, of Ghoraghat Upazila in Dinajpur. Saju was working in the Bijayanagar branch of Deepshikha NGO in Rajshahi and his son Abdullah Alif was a seventh-grader at Rajabarihat High School.

Godagari Model Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kamrul Islam confirmed the matter.

He said Saju Mia was waiting with a motorcycle on the side of the highway to take her son to school. At that time, a BRTC bus coming from Chapainawabganj lost control and hit a tree. The father and son died on the spot.

He said that although the BRTC bus collided with a tree, no passenger, driver, or helper was injured. Upon receiving the news, the police and fire service personnel went to the spot.

The bus was seized, he added. Legal action is being taken in this regard.
