Dr. ABM Khurshid Alam, Director General of Health Directorate, said that the government is planning to reduce the age limit for taking booster doses in a couple of days. Citizens under the age of 60 who have a history of various diseases can take booster dose without SMS. In this case, they will be able to take the booster dose of the vaccine by showing the necessary evidence at the center where they got the vaccine.

This information was given by DG Health while talking to the journalists of the Bangladesh Health Reporters Forum (BHRF) on Monday (January 3).

In addition to the introduction of the vaccine to control the infection of Novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country, the application of booster dose has started on 28th December. However, the Ministry of Health and the Department of Health have decided to give a booster dose of the vaccine to those who are fighting against Covid-19 and civilians above 60 years of age.

Those who have co-morbidity, those who are at health risk, will be able to take booster doses, he said. In that case, age will not be a barrier. In this case, you have to go to the center with the vaccine card. He must be told that he has a physical illness. Someone has cancer, but age 40. Why would he be dropped? We will arrange for him to be vaccinated.

ABM Khurshid Alam said all the information was taken at the time of registration for the vaccine. This will ensure that he has co-morbidity. We want to prioritize those co-morbidities that are riskier, such as cancer, anti-cancer drug users, those who have received radiation or chemotherapy, and those whose immune systems are weak.

DG Health added that those who have registered for the vaccine can change the mobile number used in the registration. Many may have registered for the vaccine from different stores or from someone else's number. This time they will have the opportunity to set their own number.

Dr Khurshid said the issue of changing the vaccination center was also being considered. Many chose a center for various reasons, which can be difficult for them now to go. That is why we are thinking about this. Everyone will be informed when the decision comes.
