Daily COVID Cases Exceed 8,000-Mark, Another 10 Die

The infection pattern continues to worsen, with the number of daily Covid-19 cases increasing to 8,407 in the 24 hours leading up to 8 am Tuesday.

For the first time since 13 August last year, when 8,465 persons were diagnosed with the virus, the number of confirmed cases has topped 8,000.

During the same time span, ten more people died from the infection.

On the previous day, Bangladesh recorded ten deaths and 6,676 cases.

Meanwhile, after 35,054 samples were tested across the country, the current positivity rate increased to 23.98 percent, up from 20.88 percent a day ago.

According to the latest estimates, the country's death toll has risen to 28,164, while the number of cases has risen to 16,32,794.

Seven people died in the Dhaka division, and one person died in each of the divisions of Chattogram, Khulna, and Mymensingh.

In the meantime, 475 patients have recovered from their viral infections, bringing the overall recovery rate to 95.16 percent.

Bangladesh's first Covid case was reported on March 8, 2020, and the first death occurred on March 18, the same year.
