Six
accounts of financial transactions of students of Shahjalal University of
Science and Technology (SUST) have been shut down, demanding the resignation of
the vice-chancellor.
The
protesting students complained that the accounts were closed on Monday (January
24) evening.
According
to the students, in any program of SUST, former and current students form a
joint venture fund. This movement was also collecting money in the same way.
However, no transaction is going to be done on these numbers since Monday
evening.
They
are unable to make any transactions from a total of six accounts including
Rocket, Cash, Bkash and Bank accounts. Calls to these phone numbers are not
coming and going.
The
students have been on a hunger strike since 3 pm on January 19. 24 students initially
took part in the strike. Later five more students joined the mass fast.
Besides, 125 hours of hunger strikes have passed but this problem has not been
solved.
During
the protest, the agitating students disconnected the power supply of the
residence of Vice-Chancellor Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed at 6:30 pm on Sunday.
He has been under blockade for 24 hours.
