BSMRSTU Student Gang-Raped: RAB Detains Six People

Agitated students have blocked the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Gopalganj on Thursday in protest of the gang rape of a student of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU ).
The gang-raped
BSMRSTU university student and her friend were returning to the mess after
shopping from Gopalganj Sadar. When they reached the helipad area a little away
from the city, five miscreants stopped them. After that, they started arguing and
saying offensive things. At one stage, the student was picked up from the road
and gang-raped, the RAB stated.
RAB
arrested six people from different areas of the district on Friday night in
connection with the gang-rape of the university student in Gopalganj. The
arrested persons are Rakib Mia alias Emon (22), Piyas Fakir (26), Pradeep
Biswas (24), Nahid Raihan (24), Md. Helal (24) and Turjo Mohant (26).
Khandaker
Al Moin, director of the law and media branch, said this at a press conference
at the media center of Karwan Bazar RAB in the capital on Saturday. He said the
people involved in the rape were professional criminals. There are multiple
cases against each of them. During the preliminary interrogation, the RAB
claimed that the arrested persons had confessed to being involved in gang rape.
