Four people have been killed in a head-on collision between a CNG autorickshaw and a minitruck (dumper) at Ukhia in Cox's Bazar. Three more people were injured in the incident. They were admitted to MSF Hospital in critical condition.

The tragic road accident took place at around 11 pm on Tuesday (March 22) on the slope of the TV tower adjacent to the Kutupalong Rohingya camp on the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf highway.

The identities of the victims were not immediately known. However, police said two of the dead were dumper and CNG drivers.

Confirming the matter, Shefayetul Islam, in-charge of Ukhia Shahpuri Highway Police, said the CNG was heading towards Cox's Bazar while the minitruck was heading towards Teknaf. Attempts are being made to identify the victims.

Witnesses said the truck was speeding and the road on the other side was sloping and dark and the CNG fell on the truck.

Upon receiving the news, local administration officials including Ukhia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Imran Hossain Sajib visited the spot.
