Biman Bangladesh Airlines will operate a test commercial direct flight for the first time from Dhaka to Toronto on Independence Day, and expects to commence a regularly scheduled flight on the route from June, reports BSS.

The first-ever test commercial flight on the Dhaka-Toronto route will be operated by Boeing Dreamliner 787-9. It is scheduled to depart from Dhaka at 11:30 pm on March 25 and reach Toronto at 7:15 am (local time) on March 27.

“After completing some additional technical works, we are hoping that Biman will be able to operate regular commercial flights three days a week from June," State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mahbub Ali told Media at a press briefing in a hotel in the capital on Thursday.

Canadian high commissioner to Bangladesh Lilly Nicholls also spoke at the press conference.

Biman officials said the flight time will be 16 hours when the airline starts operating the regular commercial flight in June with the capacity of carrying around 200 passengers.
