The government has issued a notification barring government officials from traveling abroad until further notice.

A notification issued by the Finance Ministry on Thursday (May 12) said government officials would not be allowed to travel abroad to attend educational tours, exposure visits, and seminars.

The decision was taken due to the post-Coronavirus economic recovery and the global crisis.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had instructed not to allow government officials to travel abroad unless absolutely necessary.

This was stated by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal during a press briefing after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement on Wednesday noon.

Responding to a question about the foreign visits of government officials, the finance minister said, "The visits that are taking place now are those that have been approved earlier. New foreign travel is not being allowed unless absolutely necessary."
