The Bangladesh Bank has limited foreign travels for all its officials and employees if it is paying full or partial expense, reports media.

The central bank issued a circular to this effect on Wednesday.

According to the circular, officials and staff will not participate in any exposure visits, study tours, workshops, or seminars overseas that are partially or entirely funded by Bangladesh Bank.

However, they can make foreign tours only for medical issues and hajj purposes, the circular read.

Apart from that, they will be able to go abroad with full funding from any other organisation.

The central bank also cancelled all types of approval or permission already given to its officials and employees for foreign trips.

Earlier on Monday, the Finance Ministry issued an order to limit all officers in government, semi-government, and autonomous organisations alongside government banks and financial institutions from travelling abroad.

The ministry instructed to cancel foreign trips at the expense of these organisations.

The decision came as part of the government's plan to reduce pressure on foreign reserves and resolve the US dollar crisis.
