Nazrul's poetic genius is diversified. His life, surroundings, and various professions made an indelible influence on his poetic creations. Nazrul observed the lives of the oppressed and exploited classes, as well as his own struggles; he also faced myriad struggles in his life. Joining Bangalee Platoon during World War I and the independence of India left a lasting impact on the poet.

We see that reflected in his Shammobadi Kabya (poetry). Through his poet's eyes, Nazrul saw a society free of class division, caste, creed, and religion. It was no surprise that he was inspired to join the anti-British movement to contribute towards building a free society.
