At least Five People Killed, Four Hurt in Sirajganj Road Accident

At least five people were killed and four others were injured in a road accident on Natore-Banpara Highway in the Ramarchar area in Sirajganj on early Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Mukul Hossain, 35, Monir Hossain Moni, 34, Haydar Ali, 41, and Mokbul Hossain, 36, all residents of the Bgatipara area in Rajshahi.

Hatikumrul highway police officer-in-charge Lutfar Rahman told the media that the accident took place as a Dhaka-bound truck collided with a Rajshahi-bound human hauler from Dhaka in the Ramarchar area at about 2:30 am, leaving three of the human hauler passengers dead on the spot and six others injured.

Two of the injured died on their way to the hospital, the OC said.

The bodies were kept at the Hatikumrul highway police station.

Police seized both the vehicles but the drivers managed to escape the scene, the OC said, adding that a case would be filed in this connection.
