Two Killed in Satkhira Lightning Strikes

Two people have been killed and six others injured in separate lightning strikes in Satkhira district, reports media.

The incidents took place at Sadar and Debhata Upazilas on Sunday morning and Saturday night respectively.

The deceased were Faruk Hossain, a resident of Khejurdanga area in Sadar Upazila, and Abdul Latif, a resident of Narikeli village in Debhata Upazila.

Sathkira Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Golam Kabir said a lightning strike killed Faruk and injured six people at Khejurdanga this morning when they were cutting soil at a shrimp enclosure.

Another lightning struck Latif at Narikeli village at night while watching over his shrimp enclosure, leaving him dead on the spot, said Debhata Police Station officer in-charge Sheikh Obaidullah.
