Bangladesh national hockey team eased past Indonesia, thrashing the hosts 4-2 at the GBK Hockey Field in Jakarta on Sunday, reports BSS.

Courtesy of this win, Iman Gobinathan’s men will now play against Pakistan in the fifth-place match on Wednesday.

On Sunday, Bangladesh went into the contest as favourites as they beat Indonesia on three occasions in the last three months.

Bangladesh’s Rasel Mahmud broke the deadlock, scoring a field goal in the 13th minute.

Ashraful Islam doubled the lead in the 20th minute from a penalty corner but Indonesia got one back just a minute later. Abdullah Al Akbar of Indonesia scored to make it 2-1.

But Bangladesh ensured applied sustained pressure and established a two-goal advantage. Deen Islam put his team 3-1 up in the 24th minute.

Indonesia got one back from a penalty corner through Ardam but Bangladesh ensured victory by Puskor Khisa’s goal in the 59th minute.
