10 Jailed for Trying to Destabilize CCC Polls

District Magistrate and Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan has sentenced 10 people to different terms for destabilizing the situation in different wards of Cumilla City Corporation (CCC) elections.

Among them, Didar Hossain of Ward 23 was sentenced to seven days imprisonment without parole. One from Sadar Dakshin was sentenced to three days imprisonment, two from Ward 3 were sentenced to three days imprisonment, and three from Ward 10 were sentenced to three days imprisonment without parole, two persons from Barapukur area were sentenced to seven days imprisonment without parole and one was sentenced to seven days imprisonment at Hochhamia Girls School.

Confirming the matter, Deputy Commissioner Kamrul Hasan said, "We have seen here that they were trying to create an untoward situation in the election." Some of them have been sentenced to three days and some to seven days.

Earlier in the day, voting started at 8 am in all the centers of CCC using electronic voting machines. Voting will continue till 4 pm in 105 polling stations in 27 wards of the city.
