Islami Andolon’s Protest Memo Handed Over to Indian High Commission

A memorandum from Islami Andolon Bangladesh, in protest of the offensive remarks by suspended BJP leaders on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was handed over to the Indian High Commission today (June 16, 2022) by Gulshan police.

A representative team of Islami Andolan Bangladesh came to the Gulshan DC's office and gave the memorandum, DMP's Gulshan division DC Asaduzzaman told the media.

"We then handed it over to the Indian High Commission," he added.

Earlier, Thousands of protestors marched from the north entrance of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 12:05 pm, led by Islami Andolon Bangladesh, in response to disrespectful remarks made by suspended BJP leaders about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Police blocked their march towards the Indian High Commission at the capital's Shantinagar area around 12:20 pm.

Later around 12:40 pm, a five-member delegation of the organization left to hand over a memorandum to a Bangladesh representative of the Indian High Commission, said Motijheel Division Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Abdul Ahad.
