Global COVID Cases Near 545 Million

The overall number of Covid cases is fast approaching 545 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.

According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 544,853,490 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,341,827 on Tuesday morning.

The US has recorded 88,054,080 cases so far and 1,038,385 people have died from the virus in the country, the data shows.

The incidence of Covid-19 pandemic continues to rise again in India, as around 80,000 new cases have been registered over the past one week.

The number of active cases has increased by almost 60 per cent over the past seven days.

According to the official figures released by the federal health ministry on Monday, 12,781 new cases were registered across the country, taking the total tally to 43,309,473.

Besides, 18 people died from the pandemic in the country, taking the total death toll to 669,217.

Meanwhile, Brazil has recorded 31,756,118 cases so far and 669,109 people have died from the virus in the country.
