A
court in Narail today (July 17) granted a three-day remand for
interrogating Akash Saha (20), over a case filed for making a Facebook post
that reportedly hurt religious sentiments in Lohagara upazila of Narail.
Narail
Judicial Magistrate Court Judge Md Morshedul Alam passed the remand order after
police pleaded for a seven-day remand, the media reported quoting
Lohagara Police Station Sub-Inspector Makfur Rahman, also the investigation
officer in the case.
Earlier
in the day, police arrested Akash Saha, a college student from Khulna.
Kochi
Sardar, a resident of Dighalia area of the upazila, filed the case against him.
Mobs
on July 15, 2022 vandalised a temple, a grocery store and several houses of the
Hindu community in Sahapara area of Lohagara upazila following the Facebook
post.
