Transport Leaders Meet with BRTA

A meeting between transport leaders and Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has started. They are holding a meeting to confirm the issue of bus service by adjusting the new fare in view of the increase in the price of fuel oil.

The meeting started at 5:20 pm on Saturday (July 6) at the BRTA chairman's office in Banani of the capital.

BRTA Chairman Nur Mohammad Majumdar, Director (Administration) Md Azizul Islam, Director (Operation) Md Lokman Hossain Molla, Secretary ATM Kamrul Islam Tang, Secretary General of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association Khandaker Enayet Ullah, Transport Owners, Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB) and labor leaders are present.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has suggested that due to the increase in the price of fuel oil, the maximum price of 29 paisa per kilometer and the launch fee may increase by 42 paisa per kilometer.

According to the notification, long-distance buses (52 seats) currently charge 1 taka 80 paisa per kilometer. Due to the increase in diesel price, the fare will increase by 29 paise and will be like 2 taka. That is, the fare will increase by 16.22 percent per kilometer.

In urban area (52 seat) bus fare is now 2 taka 15 paisa per kilometer. It will increase by 28 paisa to 2 taka 43 paisa. That is, every kilometer will increase by 13.16 percent.

Apart from this, the fare at launch is currently 2 taka 19 paisa per kilometer. 42 paisa increase, the rent will be 2 taka 62 paisa. The fare will increase by 19.18 percent per kilometer.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources on Friday night, the retail price (1 liter) of diesel and kerosene within 40 km of the depot will be Tk 114, Octane Tk 135 and Petrol Tk 130. Earlier, kerosene and diesel have been sold at Tk 80 per litre, octane at Tk 89 and petrol at Tk 86.
