5 Killed after BRT Girder Falls on Car in Uttara, PM Mourns

5 private car passengers, including two children, were killed today (15 Aug) after a part of the flyover's launching girder of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project collapsed on top of the car in Uttara. 

The deceased are - Rubel, 50, Jharna, 28, Jannat, 6, and Jakaria, 6. Another one remained unidentified yet.

The accident took place when a crane fell while installing the girder around 5:00pm near the Jasimuddin area.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of five people by falling down of a BRT's viaduct on a car in the city's Uttara.

In a condolence message, the Prime Minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Earlier, a security guard was killed and a pedestrian injured after a part of a girder of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project fell on them in Gazipur on July 15.
