Guard members rescued 17 fishermen who were floating in the Bay of Bengal after
the engine of the trawler broke down. They were rescued alive from Kutubdia
channel in Cox's Bazar.
This
information was confirmed by Lt. Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi, media officer
of the Coast Guard Headquarters today, Sunday (August 28) at noon.
He said
that on August 24, a fishing trawler called 'FB Ma-Babar Doa-2' went into the
sea from Bhola Tajumuddin. At one point the engine broke down and the trawler
floated uncontrollably in the sea.
Later
on Saturday (August 27) around noon, the trawler floated and came under the
mobile network. The fishermen then called the National Helpline 999 and informed
the Coast Guard East Zone.
Later
they were rescued alive at 4:30 pm under the leadership of Coast Guard Qutubdia
Commander Lt. Commander Aminul Sajjad.
After
first aid and provision of food, the trawler with the fishermen was handed over
to its owner.
