The overall number of global Covid cases has crossed 613 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world, reports UNB.
According to the latest global data, the total case count mounted to 613,525,639 while the death toll reached 6,515,900 this morning (September 11, 2022).
The US has recorded 97,082,331 cases so far and 1,075,659 people have died from the virus in the country, both highest counts around the world.
India's daily COVID-19 caseload decreased to 5,554 Saturday, official data showed
According to federal health ministry data released on Saturday morning, 5,554 new cases of COVID-19 were reported during the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 44,490,283 in the country. The number of new cases on Friday was 6,093.
The country also logged 18 related deaths during the past 24 hours, pushing the overall death toll to 528,139 since the beginning of the pandemic, the ministry said.
Covid in Bangladesh
Bangladesh reported one more Covid-linked death and 222 cases in 24 hours till Saturday morning.
With the new numbers, the country's total fatalities rose to 29,332 and caseload to 2,014,577, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The daily case test positivity rate rose to 8.62 percent from Friday's 8.34 percent as 2,574 samples were tested.
The mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.46 percent while the recovery rate stood at 97.22 percent.
