Govt to Purchase 54.60 Lakh Tons of Fuel Oil

The government has decided to purchase 54.60 lakh tons of refined and unrefined fuel oil (crude oil) for 2023.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved the proposal in principle at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) on Wednesday. The meeting was held virtually under the chairmanship of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.

At the end of the meeting, Md. Rahat Anwar, additional secretary of the Cabinet Division, said through the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, direct purchase of 16 lakh (1.6 million) tons of crude oil from Saudi Aramco of Saudi Arabia and ADNOC of Abu Dhabi for 2023 has been given in principle.

Besides, through the BPC under the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, the proposal to import 38.60 lakh tons of refined fuel oil based on G2G for 2023 through a direct purchase method has been given principle approval._Agencies
