Bangladesh's ambassador to the United States, Md Shahidul Islam, has been removed from the position. The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Thursday (October 20).

In view of the application of this retired officer of the foreign cadre, this notification was issued canceling the contractual appointment from September 1.

The government decided to remove Ambassador Shahidul after the US imposed sanctions on former and current officers of RAB.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on July 13 that it has been decided to appoint Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran as the next ambassador to the United States.

Officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs say that it is normal to change ambassador positions twice in the first and last part of the year. However, in December last year, the issue of bringing back Ambassador Md Shahidul Islam appointed to Washington, and reshuffling several important missions came to the fore due to the US ban on RAB.
