The job aspirants have besieged the main gate of the Directorate of Primary Education (DPE) in Mirpur, demanding to increase in the number of posts for the recruitment of assistant teachers in the government primary schools of the country.

Today, Thursday (November 24), the job seekers started taking positions at the main gate of DPE after 11 am.

Participating in the placement program, the job seekers raised various slogans demanding to increase in the number of posts in the recruitment of assistant teachers.

At that time, they said, "Due to the corona epidemic, recruitment was stopped for a long time. The Primary and Mass Education Minister said, 45 thousand will be appointed. But suddenly the Directorate of Primary Education withdrew from this decision. We don't accept it."

At one stage, the Director of the Primary Education Directorate (Inspection and Evaluation) Dr. Uttam Kumar Das came to the main gate. At that time, he said, "The results will be published as per the recruitment rules. Talented aspirants will get the job." He also requested everyone to leave the main gate of DPE.

Meanwhile, according to ministry sources, Farid Ahmed, secretary of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, is now at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology today to release the final results. From there he is supposed to go to the Directorate of Primary Education.

According to the Department of Primary Education, 45,000 teachers are supposed to be appointed by increasing the number of assistant teachers, but this is not happening. Appointments are being made to the posts mentioned in the notification. Accordingly, 32 thousand 577 posts will be appointed.

Sub-section (d) of Article 8 of the Government Primary School Teacher Recruitment Rules-2019 states, 'Among the prescribed quota teachers in each category (60 percent female, 20 percent male and remaining male), 20 percent must have a bachelor's degree in science or equivalent. Candidates must confirm the appointment. However, if the quota of 20 percent is not met, the appointment can be made on the basis of merit.

It is known that the written and oral examination for this appointment will be conducted in three phases, but the final result will be published only once. 40 thousand 862 passed the first phase written exam, 53 thousand 595 in the second phase and 57 thousand 368 in the third phase.

On October 20, 2020, the Directorate of Primary Education published a notification for the recruitment of 32 thousand 577 vacant posts of assistant teachers. A total of 13 lakh 9 thousand 461 candidates applied for this recruitment exam.
