BIWTC Launches Ferry Service for Motorbikes to Cross Padma River

The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation on Tuesday started ferry services on Shimulia-Mangalmajhi route for motorcycles to cross the Padma River ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, reports UNB. 

BIWTC Chairman SM Ferdous Alam visited Shimulia ferry ghat on Tuesday morning to ensure safe crossing of the motorcyclists and co-passengers by ferries 'Kalmillata' and 'Kunjalata'. 

BIWTC Director (Commerce) SM Ashiquzzaman, General Manager (Commerce) Sheikh Md. Nasim and General Manager (Marine) Md. Hasimur Rahman Chowdhury were present on the occasion.

SM Ferdous said that the ferries will be kept engaged three days during Eid.

Besides, BIWTC's ultra-modern passenger ship 'MV Madhumati' will start its Eid trip from Dhaka Sadarghat (Lalkuthi) to Chandpur-Barishal-Jhalkathi-Kaukhali-Hularhat-Charkhali and Baramachua at 7pm today.

BIWTC chairman will inaugurate the special Eid service.
