Former GCC Mayor Jahangir’s Nomination Cancelled

The nomination paper of former Gazipur city corporation mayor Md Jahangir Alam has been cancelled. On the other hand, his mother's nomination paper has been accepted. 

The returning officer Md Faridul Islam cancelled the nomination paper around 10:50 am on Sunday (April 30) saying that Jahangir Alam has a problem with one of his bank statements.

“All the information provided by Jahangir Alam is correct except for a problem with one of his bank statements. That’s why, his nomination paper has been cancelled. He has a chance to file an appeal as there is time,” Faridul said.

Suspended mayor Jahangir collected his nomination papers on April 26 to run for the post as an independent candidate. Later, the next day, he submitted his nomination papers.
