The first ODI between Bangladesh and Ireland at County Ground in Chelmsford got interrupted by rain after the latter reached 65-3 in 16.3 overs, reports BSS.

Bangladesh put up 246-9, thanks to Mushfiqur Rahim's 61 and Najmul Hossain Shanto's 44. Towhid Hridoy and Mehidy Hasan Miraz made identical 27.

When the rain arrived, Harry Tector was batting on 21 with Lorcan Tucker on 2.

For Bangladesh pacers Hasan Mahmud, Shoriful Islam and left-arm spinner Taijul Islam picked up one wicket apiece.

If the game is washed out, Ireland's chance to make direct entry to the World Cup will be ruined completely and instead South African will get the ticket of the cricket's biggest extravaganza directly.

Ireland would have to play qualifier in this case to make them available in the India World Cup in next October-November.
