4 Killed in Excavator-Ambulance Collision in Gopalganj

Four people were killed and four others injured in a head-on collision between an excavator-laden truck and an ambulance in Gopalganj.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Khulna highway near Sadar upazila’s Arambag area around 7:30 am on Thursday (July 6).

The deceased could not be identified immediately.

Gopalganj Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Javed Masud confirmed the information.

The OC said an ambulance was going to Dhaka from Khulna with patient. On the way, a truck carrying an excavator hit the ambulance from the opposite direction in that area. One person died on the spot when the two vehicles got twisted.

Being informed, police and fire service personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the seven injured but one died on the way to Gopalganj General Hospital and two others died after being brought to the hospital.

The remaining four injured were admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital, the police official said.

Juwel Sarker, a physician at the emergency department of the hospital, said the injured are being treated at the hospital.
