Dhaka-17 by-polls: Motorcycle Riding banned in Gulshan, Banani

For the impending Dhaka-17 by-elections, the Election Commission has prohibited the use of motorbikes in the Dhaka neighborhoods of Gulshan, Banani, and Cantonment. 

According to a statement signed by Deputy Secretary Md Atiar Rahman of the Election Commission Secretariat, the prohibition will be in effect from Sunday at 12 a.m. till Tuesday.

Besides, the movement of buses, trucks, minibuses, microbuses, jeeps, pickups, private cars, and easy bikes will be restricted from Sunday to Monday.

Dhaka-17 by-polls are scheduled to be held from 8am to 4pm on Monday. 

Earlier, the Ministry of Public Administration declared a general holiday on Monday in the Dhaka-17 constituency.

Dhaka-17, consisting of Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, and a portion of the Dhaka Cantonment, holds the distinction of being the most affluent constituency in the capital. 

A total of eight MP candidates are contesting in the by-polls.
