The "military commander" of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) was taken into custody by members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Friday in the Cox's Bazar district's Teknaf upazila.

Hafez Nur Mohammad, 32, was named as the person who was arrested.

Police said a man was killed in a shootout between the ARSA and RSO forces in the Ukhiya Rohingya camp.

The senior assistant director of RAB-15 (Law and Media), Abu Salam Chowdhury, claims that at 10 p.m., a RAB-15 squad started a drive in Shamlapur during which Nur was imprisoned.

In Cox's Bazar, four ARSA agents and a significant arsenal are found.

According to Nur, the elite team is preparing raids to capture further gang members.
