The Chinese delegation came to Pyongyang to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un met with them and promised to take bilateral ties to a "new high," according to state media on Saturday.

On Friday, Kim held a reception for Chinese officials who were accompanied by Li Hongzhong, a member of the Communist Party Politburo. The first delegation since the Covid-19 epidemic was from China.

"Reaffirmed at the talk was the stand of the parties and governments of the two countries to cope with the complicated international situation on their own initiative and steadily develop the friendship and comradely cooperation onto a new high stage," a North Korean news agency said.

After seeing Kim's most recent nuclear-capable missiles and attack drones during a military display in the capital on Thursday, representatives from China and Russia joined him for the meeting.
