Not feeling any pressure: Quader

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said that the US ambassador did not say anything about the caretaker government, Sheikh Hasina's resignation, the election commission's resignation anywhere in his speech. He wanted free, fair and impartial elections. We said that too. We are not under any pressure. Pressure is our conscience.

 Obaidul Quader said these things to media at the party office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital today Thursday (August 3) at 1:15 p.m. Before this, the Awami League leaders had a meeting with the US Ambassador Peter Haas for more than an hour.

Regarding the attitude of the United States, he said, there is a bilateral relationship. We have friendly relations. US Ambassador Peter Haas came to our office for talks. They never came before.

Asked whether he was feeling any pressure from the international community, Obaidul Quader said, "I am not feeling any pressure." Pressure is our conscience.

General Secretary of Awami League said that over the next election issue was discussed in the meeting. He said, we say clearly what we think about elections. We want peaceful elections. We want free, fair and impartial elections. This is our commitment. Democracy is the product of Awami League's long struggle. Sheikh Hasina's leadership has strengthened somewhat through two elections.

Obaidul Quader said that no political conflict was discussed with Peter Haas in the meeting, and the US ambassador did not give any advice on neutral elections.
