Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has assured to take legal initiatives to bring back BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zobaida Rahman who were sentenced by the court. He said that everything will be done to bring them back to the country.

The minister told reporters at the secretariat on Thursday (August 10) at noon regarding the issue. Earlier, the Jubo League submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Home Affairs demanding that Tarique Rahman should be sent back to the country to execute the sentence and also demanded to declare BNP-Jamaat politics banned, BNP founder Ziaur Rahman's posthumous trial and to bring back the fugitive self-confessed killers involved in Bangabandhu's murder. 

Jubo League Chairman Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash handed over the memorandum to Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.

After receiving the memorandum, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal told reporters, "We have received their memorandum." According to the law, we will make the necessary arrangements from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Meanwhile Tarique Zia and his wife have been convicted by the court. We will do everything to bring them back.

Earlier on August 2, the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Court sentenced 9 years in prison in the case of concealment of wealth information and acquisition of assets outside known income to Tarique Rahman. Tarek's wife Zobayda was also sentenced to three years in prison.
