After great anticipation, Tamim Iqbal has been replaced as the Bangladesh ODI team's captain by Shakib Al Hasan.
Following a 12-year absence, the all-rounder has been reinstated as the full-time ODI skipper and will serve as the team's captain for both the Asia Cup and the World Cup.
Shakib has led Bangladesh in the 50-over format 50 times, most notably in the 2011 World Cup at home. He now serves as the team's Test and T20I captain.
Between 2009 and 2011, Shakib led Bangladesh in 47 ODIs until being fired following a disastrous trip of Zimbabwe. In three more ODIs, the most recent of which he captained Bangladesh without Mashrafe Mortaza being present.
