The World Humanitarian Day acts as a reminder of the availability of EU humanitarian assistance, making sure that people in need are not disregarded, according to the European Union (EU) Embassy in Dhaka.

The EU embassy in Dhaka tweeted on August 19 to commemorate the day. "This in particular applies to Bangladesh and the EU's Rohingya response entering its 6th year," the message said.

In Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char, more than 1.1 million Rohingyas are living in Bangladesh.

Eamon Gilmore, the Special Representative of the European Union for Human Rights, who recently visited Bangladesh, stated that they will discuss with other nations what else needs to be done to address the Rohingya crisis, and that they are especially conscious of the reductions in food rations that are being made this year.

World Humanitarian Day this year commemorates the twentieth anniversary of the fatal attack on Baghdad's Canal Hotel.

"We celebrate the bravery and commitment of humanitarian relief workers globally on this World Humanitarian Day. We reconfirm that they have our unwavering support as they work tirelessly to save lives all throughout the world. In a message commemorating the day, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated, "We celebrate their unwavering dedication to serve ALL people in need: No matter who, no matter where; no matter what."
