A student named Kazi Samita Ashka from Jahangirnagar University (JU) has reportedly committed suicide. She was a fourth-year student in the History Department at the university, belonging to the 48th batch.

On the evening of September 1st, a tragic incident occurred near the adjacent Aambagan area of the university at around 8:00 p.m. Upon receiving the news, her friends found her lifeless body and rushed her to the Enam Medical College in Savar. The doctor declared her dead.

According to Ashka's friends, she used to share an apartment with four junior students from the 50th batch in the Aambagan area. During the incident, no one else was present in the apartment.

Ashka's friends shared that earlier in the evening, there was a minor dispute between Ashka and Shahriar Zaman Turjo, a student of Khulna's North Western University, which led to a video call argument. Later, Ashka disconnected the call and stopped responding to phone calls.

Then, Shahriar told Ashkar's roommates about the incident after trying hard to get Ashka on the phone. Her Roommates and classmates rushed to the spot after getting Shahriar's call. They found her in critical condition, hanging from the ceiling. They immediately rescued her and took her to the university's medical center. She was later transferred to Enam Medical College, where the doctor declared her dead.

One of Ashka's friends, Mushtahid, mentioned that Ashka was a cheerful and lively person. She had a good relationship with her family and friends, and there were no signs of any major problems in her life. However, disputes with her friends may have led to this unfortunate incident.

Assistant Professor Hosne Ara from the History Department said that initially, the students asked for an ambulance urgently without mentioning suicide. Since the incident appears to be unnatural, the police will likely create a report, and the family will be informed after all the details are collected.

Dr. Arnab, the duty doctor at Enam Medical College, stated that they received her at around 9:00 p.m. Based on the initial ECG report, it appears that her death occurred about half an hour before she was brought to the hospital. Since this seems to be an unnatural death, the police will prepare a report, and the family will be informed once all the necessary details are collected.

Assistant Inspector Al Mamun Kabir from Savar Police Station mentioned that they initially identified the situation as a suicide by hanging from the neck. Given the disputes she had with her friend, it is possible that this led her to take such a drastic step. They will compile a report based on the statements of witnesses and the investigation, and the family will be notified accordingly.

This is a very sad and unfortunate incident, and it highlights the importance of addressing and resolving conflicts and disputes in a healthy manner and reaching out for help when needed.
