Bangladesh, China and Myanmar want to start the repatriation of Rohingyas by next December on an experimental and small scale. In this regard, a meeting is going to be held in Naypyitaw on Monday (September 4). The officials at the director general level of the foreign ministries of Bangladesh and Myanmar will participate in it.

A four-member delegation led by the Director General of the Myanmar Sub-Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh has already arrived in Myanmar to attend the meeting. In the meeting, Dhaka will insist on discussing what steps Naypyitaw will take to restore Rohingyas' confidence and make them feel safe.

According to a source in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there will be several meetings between Bangladesh and Myanmar this month to make the Rohingya repatriation pilot project a success. As part of this, the officials of the two countries are sitting in Naypyitaw today. In a few days, a Myanmar delegation is expected to come to Cox's Bazar to discuss with the Rohingyas who want to be repatriated. China is playing an important role in the negotiations with Bangladesh and Myanmar in this repatriation process.
