Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), the country’s Met Office, today forested that a low-pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay and adjoining area, resulting in light to moderate rain or heavy rainfall likely at some places over the country in the next 24 hours ending tomorrow at 9 am.

BMD, the country’s Met Office, forecasted this in a weather bulletin, signed by BMD deputy director Meteorologist Md. Omar Faruq, on Tuesday (September 19).

According to the BMD weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Khulna division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country in the next 24 hours.

Besides, day temperature may “fall slightly” and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period, the bulletin added.

Regarding the next two days or 48 hours’ weather bulletin, the Meteorological Department said that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Khulna division with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country.

“Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country on Wednesday (September 20) while day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country on Thursday (September 21),” The Met Office said in the weather bulletin.

“Rainfall activity may decrease at the end period,” BMD, the country’s Met Office, forecasted this in the weather forecast’s outlook for the next five days.

Meanwhile, BMD deputy director Meteorologist Md. Omar Faruq said in the Synoptic Situation of the weather bulletin that “a low-pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay and adjoining area”. The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, center of the low to Assam across Gangetic West Bengal and the southern part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 36.4°C yesterday at Tetulia in the Rangpur division while today’s minimum temperature was recorded at 23.6°C at Dinajpur in the Rangpur division and at Bandarban in the Chattogram division.

The country’s maximum rainfall, for the last 24 hours, was recorded at 141 mm at Khepupara in the Barishal division.

Today’s sunset will be at 5:59 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:45 am.
