The Ministry of Commerce has allowed the import of another 6 crore eggs to control the egg market. Newly, a total of 6 companies have been allowed to import 1 crore eggs each.

Haider Ali, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Commerce, confirmed this on Thursday (September 21).

Earlier, 4 companies were allowed to import 4 crore eggs. On September 18, M/s Mim Enterprises, Tiger Enterprises, Prime Energy and Arnob Trading were allowed to import 1 crore eggs each.

It should be noted that the government has fixed the price of each egg at 12 taka. However, it is still being sold at 12 and a half taka or more in the market.

After the increase in the price of eggs in the country, some importer sought permission to import. Earlier, the commerce minister said that the permission will be given if the price does not decrease in the market. Finally the Ministry of Commerce gave the permission.
