Journalist Dies After Being Tear-Gassed By Police

Rafiq Bhuiyan, former executive member of BFU and member of the National Press Club, who was injured by police tear gas during the violence surrounding BNP's mass rally, died.

DUZ President Shahidul Islam confirmed to the media that he died while undergoing treatment at Bardem Hospital in the capital on Sunday (October 29).

It is known that Rafiq Bhuiyan was hit by police tear gas when he reached the old building of the National Board of Revenue in Segunbagicha area while going to the National Press Club by rickshaw from his Madartek residence in the capital on October 28. At this time he fell from the rickshaw.

He was later taken to Bardem Hospital. At that time, the doctor said that there was severe internal bleeding due to a head injury. He died while undergoing treatment there.

Rafiq Bhuiyan has led many times at various levels of journalism. He was a permanent member of the Press Club and used to visit the Press Club regularly. Besides journalism, he wrote poetry and rhymes.
