Bangladesh Railway today announced the suspension of 6 trains, including local, mail, and commuter, to avoid arson and vandalism across the country.

Additional Director General (Operations) Sardar Shahadat Ali confirmed this on Friday (December 22).

Earlier, the Western Railway Authority issued a letter announcing the suspension of the Uttara Express from Rajshahi to Parbatipur and commuter trains from Ishwardi to Rohanpur.

The letter said that the movement of Uttara Express plying on the Parbatipur-Rajshahi-Parbatipur route has been “requested to be temporarily suspended” from December 22 (Friday) to avoid vandalism during the strike-blockade.

Western Region Railway General Manager Asim Kumar Talukder told the media that the train runs mostly at night. The train movements have been suspended due to security reasons._Agencies
