A Rohingya community leader named Karim Ullah was being slaughtered by miscreants in Ukhia Rohingya camp of Cox's Bazar. The incident took place at Balukhali No. 20 Rohingya camp of the upazila at around 8 pm on Friday (January 12). It is stated that by the members of Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (Arsa) inside the refugee camp last night the incident took place.
Deceased Karim Ullah(35), the son of Gani Mia was a community leader of Block M 27 of camp-20, the OC said.
After the incident Police reached the spot and recovered the body.
Shamim Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ukhiya Police Station said, "A group of 10/12 Arsa members called Rahim out of the house inside the camp no. 20 and stabbed him to death."
Police added that later his body was recovered and sent to Cox's Bazar General Hospital for autopsy. Karim was a listed criminal and was absconding in several cases including a police assault case, he added.
Operation is going on to arrest the killers, the OC said. Meanwhile there is tension arisen in the Rohingya camp based on this incident. The police suspects that the murder was committed due to internal conflict and domination.
