Bangladesh will buy 10 planes from European aerospace giant Airbus when the country's economy permits, said Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud.

The decision was revealed following discussions with French Ambassador Marie Masdupuy and German Ambassador Achim Troster at the foreign ministry.

Hasan Mahmud clarified that the final decision on the plane purchase lies with the relevant ministry, contingent on the country's economic conditions.

Additionally, Hasan Mahmud disclosed talks about procuring the Second Bangabandhu Satellite from France, with a memorandum of understanding already signed during the visit of French President Macron last year.

The satellite is slated to be an observatory satellite, gathering data on climate and security. The ministers discussed the broadening of relations with both France and Germany, who are significant development and trade partners for Bangladesh.

Ambassador Masdupuy shared France's interest in initiating a new program for the exchange of young teachers and students with Bangladesh, aiming to deepen the existing strong relationship.

Both ambassadors conveyed congratulatory letters from the German Chancellor and the French President. The discussions encompassed various aspects of the bilateral relationship, including trade, climate change, and culture.

Furthermore, Masdupuy highlighted joint efforts between Bangladesh and France in addressing the Rohingya crisis, emphasizing their commitment to finding a lasting solution.
