A Dhaka court today (February 1) dismissed the bail petition of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in a case filed over the attack on the residence of the chief justice during the BNP police clash on October 28, 2023.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farzana Shakila Sumu Chowdhury passed the order after hearing from the prosecution and the defense.

Fakhrul’s lawyer Sayed Joynal Abedin Mesbah confirmed the development.

On October 29, the Detective Branch of police detained Fakhrul from his Gulshan residence.

Later, Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Md Rashidul Alam sent him to jail, rejecting his bail prayer after he was produced before the court in the case.

Mentionable, subversive activities were carried out on the residence of Chief Justice on October 28. Following the incident, a case was filed with Ramna Police Station against 59 BNP leaders and activists including Mirza Fakhrul.
