An accident has occurred on the freight train line in Parbatipur. As a result, train services between Rangpur and the northern region have been suspended. This morning, Saturday (February 24), at around 8 a.m., an accident took place in the Gulpar area of the Parbatipur-Rangpur railway line.

It is learned that a freight train carrying 31 bogies from Chittagong to Parbatipur was heading to Rangpur. At around 8 a.m., the rear bogie (100326) of the train derailed at the accident site. At that time, the Bonarpara-bound Dolonchapa Express from Parbatipur, the Burimari Mail Train from Burimari, and the Kurigram Express from Kurigram were stranded. After the incident, a recovery van arrived at 10 a.m. to begin the recovery work.

The train's locomotive engineer, Abdus Safi, informed that the accident occurred due to the sleeper replacement work on the railway line.

Parbatipur Railway Station Master Rezaul Karim stated that recovery work has been ongoing since the accident. Once the recovery work is completed, train operations on that route will resume as usual.
