The director general-level meeting between Indian and Bangladeshi border forces has agreed to bring the shooting to death incidents along the international borders to zero.

The Border Guard Bangladesh and the Indian Border Security Force have also agreed to protect the sanctity of the international borders. The announcement came on Saturday, the concluding day of the BGB-BSF 54th DG-level border conference between March 5 and March 9, in Dhaka.

The BSF chief, Nitin Agrawal, claimed the civilian deaths were the results of self-defence and termed the civilians killed along the borders ‘criminals’.

The BGB chief, however, termed the civilians killed along the borders ‘miscreants.’
