Bangladesh has clinched the title of the SAFF Under-16 Women's Championship by defeating India.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced the intention to award the victorious girls with prizes during an event to distribute grants for research in various universities and research institutions, held at her office's Shapla Hall on Monday (March 11).

Speaking on the occasion regarding women's achievements, Sheikh Hasina said, "From education to sports, we are progressing in every aspect. Those under 16, who defeated India by 3-2 goals to become champions, I will call them, give them prizes, and encourage them."

Notably, in the final of the SAFF Under-16 Women's Championship held in Nepal, Bangladesh faced India, where after the game ended in a 1-1 draw at the designated time, Bangladesh's girls secured victory over India in the tiebreaker by 3-2 goals, securing the trophy. Goalkeeper Yearjan's bravery in the tiebreaker ensured Bangladesh's victory.
